Modiac iPad Converter is a great commercial converter. It allows you to convert your video files into videos that will be played on your iPad. As you may know, the iPad can only open a few video formats (MOV, MPEG-4, H.264, M4V). This converter can open the most popular video formats.
Graphically, the converter is unlike most other commercial converters. Instead of using the same interface every converter has, they decided to use an entirely original approach, and I give them extra points for that. When you launch the application, you will see a screen that asks you to load a file. After the file or files are loaded, the screen will be changed a bit, and it will show the files in your queue, and at the bottom you can select a folder where the files will be saved and the type of conversion that you want to make. The drop-down menu for conversion mode won't show the different codecs that the app can use. If you want to customize that, you have to click on the "Advanced" button and change them by yourself.
In my testing, I used both an MKV and an AVI file and converted it into the best quality setting available. I was positively surprised that the app can hard-code subtitles onto converted files. Extra points for that, as well. The resulting files looked and sounded great.
